‘Women Development-Challenges and Opportunities’

’Role of women in protecting our culture significant”
–opines Prof. K.S. Rangappa
Mysore-Mar 10: ‘Contribution of women in nation building is memorable. Her sacrifices in protecting our culture which is rich in values and much advanced in maintaining quality human relations compared to other countries has to be duly recognized. Her role in safe guarding our family values is significant’, opined Prof. K.S.Rangappa, General President of Indian Science Congress and former vice chancellor of Mysore University.
He was speaking after inaugurating a public program at Brahma Kumaris, Yadavagiri, Mysore for celebrating International Women’s Day on ‘Women Development-Challenges and Opportunities’. I am a living example of how an inspiration given by a woman can change the destiny of a person. My parents were illiterate. But my mother coaxed me to develop interest in studies. She is a god to me, he said.
Prof. Indumati, former vice chancellor of Davangere University was the chief guest of the occasion. Woman speaks the language of silence. Still she is the busiest person in the family. Only she can create an environment of sustained development at home. Despite discrimination we must strive towards human development, but for this to happen a political will along with mental stability is required, she said.
Manjula Manasa, former chairperson of Karnataka State Women’s Commission said that life of a woman is of difficulty and suffering. She has to be aware of her rights. She is an epitome of tolerance and she is like an angel who deserves accolades for her unsung performances. Still it is an irony that in a place like Mysore four Family Courts are established to settle disputes, but still their hands are full. It shows our family system in poor light. Regardless of what is going on around her, regardless of the mountain of negativities encircling every family, woman must learn to keep calm and protect her family. In this regard the activities of Brahma Kumaris need to be commended for their service in training people to stabilize their minds and achieving their set goals.
BK Ranganath suggested that it is imperative in the present circumstances that everyone must learn to be healthy emotionally.
BK Lakshmiji blessed the participants and gave away godly gifts. BK Sharada, BK Yogeshwari, BK Rashmi, BK Manjula and BK Yatna was present.

Peaceful Life has Vanished In this Competitive World -BK Ashaji
‘Finding it difficult to cope with this competitive world, many people have lost peace, comfort and happiness. We have reached a stage wherein we have to purchase happiness and peace’, observed BK Ashaji, Director of Om Shanti Retreat Centre, Delhi.
Ashaji was delivering a keynote speech on the eve of the launching of ‘Year of Positive Change-2023-24’, a unique project for self-development.
“We are finding an attitude of haste and hurry everywhere. The world is running behind competitions and people are made to run to catch that speed. Without being able to manage this style of living, many are suffering from diseases and losing the significance of happiness and comfort.
People have reached a stage wherein they have started purchasing comfortable things with the hope that they will be more happy and peaceful by acquiring physical comforts. But one has to learn to come out of stressful living to maintain a peaceful life and we have to strive for success in our professions. In this regard Brahma Kumaris have launched many programs to bring awareness to the people through Rajyoga, of which today is one of them. But people have to make use of such opportunities’, suggested Ashaji.
Member of Legislative Assembly from Mandya Constituency, P.Ravikumar said that since ancient times India has been advocating Yoga and Meditation to get peace of mind. Along with Mutts, Brahma Kumaris have shown the path of spirituality to people to obtain peace of mind and happiness. They need to be appreciated for the different awareness programs that they are arranging in this regard.
Dr.Shipa Avarebil, Physician of JSS Hospital, explaining her individual experiences, said that being in the field of Medical services, along with attending to patients she also practices meditation every day and treats patients in that mindset. She has learnt how to have balance between personal life, professional life and spiritual life. Therefore she urged everyone to take advantage of such campaigns.
Joint Director of Land Records C.S.Ramesh, implied that if we fall down in life, we have to still show progress and get up so that everyone observes me. In spiritual camps such as this, they suggest us to be Positive. But three years back people would be afraid to hear the word POSITIVE. Now that our country has come out of this disease, we have to learn to think positively so that we can live peacefully and happily.
Suttur Sri Shivaratri Desikendra Swamiji blessed with his divine presence. BK Sharadaji conducted Rajyoga meditation and BK Lakshmiji, Chief Coordinator of Brahma Kumaris, Mysuru Sub Zone, presided over the program.
